CEP America Launches "Reform Realtime" Initiative

EMERYVILLE, Calif., April 17, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CEP America, one of the nation's leading providers of hospital-based physician staffing and management, has launched a new initiative exploring selected geographic-specific effects of healthcare reform at hospitals across the country. Reform Realtime illustrates the impact of the Affordable Care Act on providers working at hospitals across America, including data from CEP America's 120 practice locations and commentary from healthcare leaders experiencing the impact of reform on a daily basis.

"With the three-year delay in Medicare data, nation-wide information about the impact of reform on hospitals is not readily available. It is difficult to know exactly how hospitals are impacted by millions of newly insured patients," remarks Josh Tamayo-Sarver, MD, PhD, CEP America's Director of Clinical Data Analysis & Research. "Using data mined from our acute care practices, we realized that we had the infrastructure in place to share a wealth of almost real-time information to the healthcare community looking to compare their metrics against their peers."

Reform Realtime will feature video, articles, and interactive tools to share blinded patient data collected from CEP America's practice locations across the country. The initiative invites providers, nurses, and administrators from hospitals across the country to share their perspective on the effects of healthcare reform.

Upcoming topics to be featured include:

  • A first-person perspective on the pressures and problems facing hospitals today.
  • A look at what healthcare providers have noticed since the January 1 rollout.
  • Examination of the top five diagnoses in EDs in January and how they compare to historical data.

The project is being hosted on CEP America's public blog, Perspectives on the Acute Care Continuum.
