WisdomTree MidCap Dividend Fund (DON) Surpasses $1 Billion in Assets

Dividend-Weighted Approach to Mid Caps Offers Unique Core 'Smart Beta' Exposure

NEW YORK, May 1, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- WisdomTree (Nasdaq:WETF), an exchange-traded product ("ETP") sponsor and asset manager, today announced the WisdomTree MidCap Dividend Fund (DON) recently surpassed $1 billion in assets. DON is designed to track the WisdomTree MidCap Dividend Index (WTMDI), a fundamentally weighted index that measures the performance of the mid-capitalization segment of the U.S. dividend-paying market.

Luciano Siracusano, WisdomTree Chief Investment Strategist, commented, "There are a variety of dividend-focused funds and investment strategies, but we believe The WisdomTree MidCap Dividend Fund (DON) provides the broadest exposure to the mid-cap segment of the U.S. dividend-paying market. For investors looking for potential dividend income in a portfolio, we believe DON could serve as a core exposure to the U.S. mid-cap asset class."

A Disciplined Focus on Relative Value

Market capitalization-weighted indexes typically have no mechanism to reduce weight in stocks with extended valuations, potentially increasing overall risk. To address this, The WisdomTree Equity Indexes rebalance annually back to a measure of relative value, such as cash dividends. We believe our approach to fundamentally weighted indexing – or smart beta – demonstrates a high correlation to established benchmarks, as well as a proven track record on a total and risk-adjusted return basis.1

The underlying WisdomTree Index for DON measures the performance of the mid-capitalization segment of the U.S. dividend-paying market, and includes almost 400 companies with a combined market capitalization of more than $2 trillion. The Index selects stocks from a universe of dividend-paying equities2 based on their relative market capitalization, and then weights each constituent annually to reflect the proportionate share of the aggregate cash dividends each component company is projected to pay to shareholders, based on its most recently declared dividend per share.
