10th Anniversary: More Than 5,000 People Joined the 2014 TAIPEI 101 Run Up Race


TAIPEI, TAIWAN--(Marketwired - May 5, 2014) - The annual TAIPEI 101 Run Up Race was organized and held on May 4. The total amount of registration was increased from 3,000 to 4,000 for the "self-challenge individuals group" to celebrate the tower's 10th anniversary.

On top of this group, participants of "elites group" and "corporate team group" added up the total amount of participants to more than 5,000.

Mark Bourne from Australia, who has won the title for the past consecutive two years, successfully defended his title this year, after he completed the entire race within 10'54"31. Valentina Belotti from Italy also won her fourth trophy after she completed it within 13'22'34, followed by Alice McNamara from Australia with an additional 17 seconds.

Shih Ching-hui completed the race within 16'57'73 and she is the only Taiwanese participant within the top five racers in the group.

AMBASSADORS AND REPRESENTATIVES IN TAIWAN AND PROPERTY OWNERS IN HSINYI DISTRICT JOINED THE RACE FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER DURING THE PAST DECADE

"The Celebrity Relay" was highlighted this year since the members of these three relay teams included foreign ambassadors and representatives in Taiwan, major property representatives in Hsinyi district, and executives of key tenants of TAIPEI 101. Each team consists of 20 runners and three teams completed the race of 390 meters with 2046 steps from the ground to the 91st floor in relays.

Christina Sung, chairman for TAIPEI 101, said that she would appreciate diplomats' support and participation of the race, as well as those supervisors and business owners. She said she'd believe that TAIPEI 101 has been performing very well as a platform for Taipei and Taiwan to interact with the world.
