Press release

H2 mobility: McPhy Energy, supplier of a hydrogen generator for HTEC refuelling station in California

HTEC Hydrogen Technology & Energy Corporation's consortium which includes McPhy Energy have just received a Notice of Proposed Award from the California Energy Commission to supply a public hydrogen refuelling station in Woodside, California.

La Motte Fanjas (France), Monday May 12th, 2014 - McPhy Energy, specialized in hydrogen production and storage equipment for industry and energy markets, is part of a consortium led by HTEC Hydrogen Technology & Energy Corporations, a leading developer of hydrogen fuelling infrastructure based in Vancouver, Canada, that received a Notice of Proposed Award ("NOPA") from the California Energy Commission ("CEC") for US$2,125,000 to supply a public hydrogen refuelling station in Woodside, California.

The NOPA from the CEC comes as part of PON 13-607, the second solicitation in a 10 year, US$200 million programme to deploy refuelling stations across California to support the roll out of zero emission hydrogen vehicles.

McPhy Energy will collaborate in the development of the HTEC refuelling station by providing  an  electrolyzer which will produce green hydrogen fuel using renewable electricity. The station, which will incorporate Powertech's innovative station and dispenser design, is planned to be operational at the end of the summer next year. It will be capable of fuelling over 25 hydrogen vehicles per day and easily expand as demand grows. Fills will take 3-5 minutes to provide the cars enough fuel to travel over 300 miles (480 kms).

Woodside is a small community between San Francisco and Silicon Valley best known for being the home of Steve Jobs,  Larry Ellison and other tech icons, and a target community for  Toyota, Hyundai,Daimlerand Honda for early adopters of hydrogen and fuel cell powered electric vehicles they have started to promote into mainstream markets.

The HTEC consortium also includes Powertech Labs and Sacre-Davey Engineering from British Columbia, Canada and Boyd Hydrogen, West Coast Cryogenic Services, Owens Electric and Solar of California, USA.

« The Woodside Hydrogen Energy Center Project ct is the first step in our exciting HiSAM (Hydrogen Infrastructure, Support and Marketing) initiative that will  develop sustainable hydrogen fuelling infrastructure and support the introduction of fuel cell vehicles to the American public.», said Colin Armstrong - President of HTEC

« After a collaboration with Total in supplying our first hydrogen generator  installed in a hydrogen refuelling station, near Berlin-Schönefeld airport in Germany, we are very glad to gain a foothold in the raising Californian hydrogen mobility market, thanks to our partner HTEC. This is the continuation of our strategy and we are proud to take part in this project with  partners that share the same philosophy of contributing to zero emission mobility worldwide », said Pascal Mauberger - President and CEO of McPhy Energy.
