On 12th May 2014, UAB Merko statyba, which is a part of AS Merko Ehitus group, and ABB AB entered into a contract to perform the civil construction works of Nordbalt HVDC converter station in Kiškėnų village, Klaipeda district, Lithuania. Under the contract, UAB Merko Statyba will perform various civil construction works including constructin of three buildings for the station with total gross area of about 7,000 m².
The value of the contract is approximately 6.0 million euros, plus value added tax. The construction works will start in spring 2014 and are scheduled for completion in 2015.
