Veolia Transportation Awarded Two Year Contract Extension in Sonoma County


SANTA ROSA, Calif., May 13, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In a unanimous vote by the Board of Supervisors for Sonoma County, Veolia Transportation was awarded a two year extension to their contract to operate fixed route bus service for the County. The vote took place during the regularly scheduled public meeting.

Veolia has operated bus service in Sonoma County for twenty years and in that time has seen service grow to record numbers. According to Ron Bushman, Regional Vice President for the Northwest, Veolia has a strong, productive working relationship with Sonoma County Transit.    "We consider it an honor to work with and for them and have made remarkable progress together," Bushman said.

Veolia's track record in Sonoma has been impeccable. The company has a very respectable 94% on-time performance.  Veolia's safety performance is excellent, with 327,000 miles traveled between preventable accidents, and its vehicle maintenance performance leads the industry with nearly 27,000 miles between breakdowns.  The Sonoma team's customer service performance is also very strong, with a very low complaint rate.  They also have very low staff turnover and a highly dedicated workforce.

Veolia employs 95 drivers and staff and operates 49 vehicles.
