On May 12, 2014, UBS AG, Zurich, Switzerland, notified us pursuant to § 21
para 1 WpHG that its proportion of voting rights via shares in Merck KGaA,
Darmstadt, Germany, fell below the threshold of 3% of the voting rights on
May 8, 2014 and at that time amounted to 2.52% (1,628,212 voting rights).
Of these, 0.58% (375,497 voting rights) were attributed to UBS AG pursuant
to § 22 para 1 sentence 1 no. 1 WpHG.
