Sunnyvale's Cogswell College to Host Crowdfunding Workshops for Creatives & Entrepreneurs and Non-Profits May 22 & 23, 2014

Workshops Offered as Part of New Certification Programs as Global Crowdfunding Revenues Continue Exponential Growth

SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 14, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cogswell College, one of the world's leading regionally-accredited institutions offering a unique curriculum that fuses digital arts, engineering and entrepreneurship, is pleased to announce two upcoming workshops on crowdfunding, "Crowdfunding for Entrepreneurs & Creatives," May 22 and "Crowdfunding for Non-Profits," May 23. The workshops are part of new certification programs at Cogswell.

"Cogswell College's leadership in entrepreneurship and digital arts and engineering now embraces Crowdfunding as a way for creative entrepreneurs to attract support and funding for their projects," said Deb Snyder, Cogswell president and chief academic officer. "These workshops offer a way for students and professionals to receive intensive, hands-on training in cutting edge techniques to fund their ideas and businesses."

The workshops will be led by CJ Cornell, Director of Venture Development and Visiting Professor of Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Cogswell Polytechnical College. He is the author of numerous papers and articles on entrepreneurship, technology and on crowdfunding. Most recently, he co-authored an article in Crowdfund Insider on the subject of crowdfunding fraud – a growing concern given the fact that in 2013 between $3 billion and $5 billion in global crowdfunding was raised.

The crowdfunding workshop series feature guest speakers and instructors from prominent Silicon Valley companies, and recognized experts in crowdfunding, social media and video production. Participants will learn how to translate their ideas into compelling crowdfunding projects and how to use low cost tools to create videos and social media marketing campaigns.
