Andrew Scott Berens, MD, to Cover Biotechnology Sector for FBR's Research Team

(Nasdaq:FBRC) (FBR), a leading investment bank serving the middle market, announced today that Andrew Scott Berens, MD, has joined the firm as Senior Vice President, Senior Analyst in FBR's Research group. Berens will cover companies in the biotech sector from FBR's New York office.

Dr. Berens began his professional career as a practicing physician in New Orleans, LA where he spent more than ten years in Emergency Medicine.  Since then, he has spent nearly ten years covering the healthcare sector on Wall Street, having held positions at Citi and Merrill Lynch/Bank of America.  Most recently he served as Senior Equity Research Analyst and Healthcare Sector head for Bloomberg Industries. He holds a B.A. from Tulane University, an M.D. from Emory University School of Medicine, and M.B.A.'s from the London Business School and Columbia Business School.  

Dr. Berens joins FBR's Healthcare Research team which includes: Steve Halper, Managing Director; Bill Tanner, Managing Director; Andrea Alfonso and Matt Lillis, Associate Vice Presidents, and Cal Sternick, Associate.  The team currently covers approximately forty stocks with a focus on Biopharma, Healthcare Facilities, Healthcare IT, Managed Care, and Pharmaceutical Services. "We have a strong base upon which to build, and are actively looking to further expand our Healthcare franchise," said Hilal.
