LOS ANGELES, May 19, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A wildfire called the Cocos Fire that began near Village Drive and Twin Oaks Road in San Marcos and Escondido in San Diego County on or about May 14, 2014 has destroyed forty homes and damaged thousands of others. Fire officials have declared a state of emergency as firefighters continue to fight the Cocos wildfire that has now consumed more than 10,000 acres of land. As of May 19, 2014, fire officials report 89% containment of the Cocos wildfire that has damaged thousands of homes in San Marcos and Escondido in San Diego County.
