BioCryst Commences Public Offering of Common Stock


RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., May 27, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, Inc., (Nasdaq:BCRX) a pharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of treatments for rare and infectious diseases, today announced that it is offering to sell $100 million of its common stock in an underwritten public offering. As part of this offering, BioCryst intends to grant the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional $15 million of its common stock.

J.P. Morgan Securities LLC is acting as the sole book-running manager and Piper Jaffray & Co. is acting as sole lead manager for the proposed offering.

All of the shares to be sold in the offering are being sold by BioCryst, with the proceeds to be used for general corporate purposes, including funding clinical development of BCX4161; the development of both second generation hereditary angioedema compounds, commercialization activities relating to peramivir and the advancement of other preclinical rare disease programs.
