Nexam’s patent application regarding PETA is approved in USA.

Nexam has received a notice of allowance from the US Patent Office (USPTO)
stating that it intends to grant Nexam’s US patent application for PETA, which
is a unique and for Nexam very important product for crosslinking a large number
of polymers.
PETA is a new and unique molecule that improves the properties of e.g.
polyimides, nylons and polyesters. Nexam developed PETA with the aim of getting
a crosslinker with lower curing temperature. Global production of plastics where
PETA could be used comprises more than 20 million tons / year.

PETA is being evaluated by a large number of potential customers, whereof
several are world leading in their respective areas. It concerns e.g.
electronics applications, increased efficiency and improvement of manufacturing
processes, and improvement of temperature resistance and service life of the
materials.

For public information about what some potential customers have developed with
PETA see the following patent applications: US

”We developed the PETA molecule since many of our potential customers requested
the type of functionality that the molecule offers. PETA can definitely help our
customers develop better and cheaper solutions. We are first in the world with
this product and it's exciting to see that the patent application we filed a
couple of years back now also has resulted in a patent in USA. This gives Nexam
a 20-year protection against competitors in this market.”, says Daniel Röme,
Director of Business Development and Innovation

As previously announced, the corresponding European application has also been
granted (see press release from April 25, 2013). The granting of the application
in USA will further strengthen Nexam’s protection for the crosslinking
technology developed by the company. In addition, Nexam has applied for PETA
patents in other markets - including China, Japan, South Korea, Russia and
Brazil.

Nexam currently has, in addition to already approved patents, 35 patent
applications within 12 patent families.
