Canada Silent No More Reports Global Pre-Term Birth Epidemic

EDMONTON, Alberta, June 2, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The World Health Organization (WHO) released an Executive Summary on The Global Action Report on Pre-term Birth, entitled "Born Too Soon." It states that globally 15 MILLION babies are born pre-maturely, every year. One in ten of them will die. Many survivors suffer a lifetime of disabilities such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, mental retardation, deafness, blindness, respiratory distress, gastrointestinal injury and serious infections, costing billions in healthcare.

"This report neglects to mention the mountain of credible worldwide studies linking induced abortion to subsequent pre-term births; often due to cervical damage. Abortionists also deny increased pre-term risk. Many of us have suffered irreparable damage. There is no such thing as a 'safe' abortion, and it also took the lives of our children," says Denise Mountenay, President of Canada Silent No More (CSNM).

In 2007, The Institute of Medicine, a member of the prestigious National Academy of Sciences listed fourteen "Immutable Medical Risk Factors Associated with Preterm Birth" including; "Prior first trimester induced abortion." i

This was also established in a peer-reviewed study done in Dec. 2008 by Brent Rooney (MSc), Dr. Byron Calhoun & Lisa Roche (J.D.) Rooney stated, "Tragically, women are not informed that it became SETTLED SCIENCE in 2009, that prior induced surgical abortions raise risk of a future pre-term delivery."

Two large Systematic Review & Meta-Analysis regarding prior induced abortions and Pre-term Birth risk; Dr. Hanes Swingle in February 2009, and one in October 2009 by Dr. Prakesh Shah, British Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology. ii

ONE prior Induced Abortion multiplies the risk of having a future Preterm Birth by 36% and two or more by 93%!  iii

Yet, legal abortion is touted as "safe" and pushed as a woman's right by abortion proponents. CSNM is additionally concerned that The Newborn Health Draft Action Plan, drafted at the WHO meetings in Geneva; as another ploy by abortion advocates to push their abortion on demand mantra; while science proves abortion increases risks of pre-term births.

As of today, there are 144 studies from 34 countries, reporting that women with prior Induced Abortions have an elevated risk of a future preterm delivery or a low birth weight (under 2,500 grams) newborn baby.

Canada Silent No More, a non-profit association of former abortion patients, believe pregnant women have a right to know about ALL of the risk factors linked to abortion.
