EnerNOC Customers in California Win Energy Efficiency Best Practice Awards

CSU Dominguez Hills, UC Davis, UC San Diego Honored at Tenth Annual California Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Awards Competition

BOSTON, June 16, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- EnerNOC, Inc. (Nasdaq:ENOC), a leading provider of energy intelligence software (EIS), today announced that three of its customers have each won Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Best Practice Awards from the California Higher Education Sustainability Conference. CSU Dominguez Hills and UC San Diego both won in the Monitoring-Based Commissioning (MBCx) category and UC Davis won in the HVAC design retrofit category. The California State University and University of California systems have been EnerNOC customers since 2007.

"The goal of the project is to make the building 'smarter' – so that the building 'knows' what it needs to do to keep everyone safe and comfortable, but doesn't need to waste energy doing anything extra," said Joshua Morejohn, Energy Manager at UC Davis. "By expanding the scope of a planned lighting occupancy sensor retrofit, we are able to tap into the occupancy information from each room, share it directly with the HVAC control system, and optimize the operation of the building. In collaborating with EnerNOC's professional services team, we were able to reframe the original project to actually get more out in the end than just the sum of the parts."

"Working with EnerNOC, the California State University is deploying advanced metering with computing data analytics to generate persistent energy costs savings, freeing dollars to reinvest in critically needed equipment upgrades," said Len Pettis, CSU Chief of Plant, Energy, and Utilities. "This is a win-win-win: for our students, the environment, and our budget."

Winners were selected by committees comprised of impartial judges with expertise in relevant fields. Award recipients will each deliver a presentation at the California Higher Education Sustainability Conference that begins today.

"It's exciting to see schools within the UC and CSU systems find significant value through strategic use of professional services, underpinned by energy intelligence software," said Tim Healy, Chairman and CEO of EnerNOC. "We're thrilled to be working with organizations like these California schools that recognize the transformative effects of data-driven energy management, and we congratulate them on this award."
