ACORE to Release New Business Leader Opinion Polling Results at Renewable Energy Finance Forum-Wall Street (REFF-Wall Street)

Recent polling of business leaders in the Southwest and Midwest demonstrates perceived economic value of renewable energy and broad support for more alternative energy sources

NEW YORK, June 19, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --

MEDIA ADVISORY
June 19, 2014

WHAT: To address and better understand the attacks on state RPS policies, oft-cited myths that integrating renewable energy will cost producers—and consumers more, and the reaction to the recently announced EPA carbon regulations, ACORE, along with its EnergyFactCheck.org website, decided to find out directly from small business owners and large business executives in two key regions of the country.

The opinion poll was conducted with Global Strategy Group in early June, 2014 among 800 business leaders in two regions of the United States (the Southwest and Midwest) on several important renewable energy issues. Some of the findings that will be discussed next week during this press conference at REFF-Wall Street include:

•    Business leaders believe that renewable energy technologies are good for their own businesses – Four in five business leaders say that using renewable energy can help their own businesses and three-quarters say renewable energy will reduce costs for their business over the next 10 to 20 years.

•    Business leaders think renewable energy will strengthen the U.S. economy and create jobs in their state – Nearly four in five business leaders say renewable energy technologies are a real growth opportunity for the economy and nearly three-quarters of business leaders think that requiring more energy to come from renewable sources will help create jobs in their state.

•    There is broad support from business leaders for developing more renewable energy production and reducing emissions from coal power plants – By a margin of more than two to one they say that the U.S. should emphasize alternative energy like solar and wind over the production of fossil fuels. By the same margin, business leaders also support federal regulations that would significantly reduce carbon emissions from coal-fired power plants.
