USHCC Foundation Announces Asusena Resendiz as 2014 University of Notre Dame Master of Nonprofit Administration Fellow

WASHINGTON, June 21, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Foundation, Wells Fargo, and the University of Notre Dame have selected Asusena Reséndiz, President and CEO of the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (FWHCC), as the USHCC 2014 Master of Nonprofit Administration (MNA) Fellow - making her the first Latina to be selected for the institution's highly acclaimed program.

Asusena will represent the FWHCC and work to obtain her Master's degree in nonprofit administration through the prestigious University of Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business.

"The USHCC is proud to have its very own Asusena Reséndiz make history as the first Latina accepted into this prestigious program. Asusena now joins the ranks of her colleague Mark Madrid, President and CEO of the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and an upcoming graduate of the MNA Fellowship program," said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez. "Asusena and Mark are a living testament to the notion that no matter how successful we become, we are never done learning. Through the MNA Fellowship, Asusena will have the flexibility to lead her local chamber while further cultivating her seasoned leadership skills. Our association is proud to play a role in her personal and professional development, and looks forward to celebrating her future success."

The Mendoza College of Business is the only nationally-ranked business school to offer a graduate business degree designed to accommodating established nonprofit leaders seeking advanced, accredited business leadership and managerial skills. The program empowers nonprofit trailblazers to successfully impact their organizations as well as their communities.

"Among the Foundation's chief goals is to equip our leaders with the tools necessary to reach their full potential as professionals, especially through educational opportunities like this one," said USHCC Foundation Chairman Nina Vaca. "Asusena is a proven leader, and this selection to such a prestigious university will only enhance her already impressive skill set and have a direct impact on the hundreds of businesses and professionals she works with daily. The Foundation exists for this reason and will continue to look to provide more opportunities to its members in order to further enrich our communities."

FWHCC Chairman and President of Texas Health Harris Methodist Southwest Fort Worth, Joseph De Leon, stated, "The FWHCC Board of Directors is proud to have our President and CEO represent our organization, and our city, in this highly-regarded program. We recognize this designation as an opportunity to support Asusena as she continues to develop her skills – thus, continuing in the advancement of our Chamber."
