Luxury Hotel's Edinburgh Restaurant Honours Historic Past With 2 for 1 Promotion

EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND--(Marketwired - Jun 23, 2014) - To celebrate the year of Homecoming Scotland 2014 a leading hotel near Livingston, Scotland is launching an innovative promotion in order to attract both ex-pats and locals to enjoy Edinburgh dining at its the award-winning Pentland Restaurant.

Dalmahoy Marriott Hotel & Country Club has chosen the 100 most common surnames in Scotland (taken from the General Register Office for Scotland) and throughout 2014 will offer people who bear one of those surnames an exclusive 2 for 1 promotion* on all Main Courses.

Dalmahoy Estate has a history dating back to King Alexander III. In spite of this long history, Dalmahoy House has only had three owners. Recorded as first owners, around 1265, the Dalmahoys were descendants of Sir Alexander de Dalmahoy. The house was purchased by the Dalrymples around 1720 and the Douglas family acquired the house from the Dalrymples -- although it is not known how! The Dalmahoy House been in the Douglas family from about 1760, owned today by the 21st Earl of Morton, a direct descendant of the Douglas family. Heraldic emblazonments from each of these families can still be seen today on the walls of the house. To celebrate this history, the hotel is also extending its Scottish restaurant's promotion to those who bear the names of former owners -- Dalmahoy, Dalrymple and Douglas, as part of Homecoming Scotland 2014 festivities near Edinburgh. The Pentland Restaurant offers traditional food with a modern twist, cooked by Head Chef James Thomson. It is an AA Rosette award-winning restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere in stunning surroundings.
