USHCC Foundation Announces Partnership with Cosmopolitan Latina

Unveils collaboration; sets the stage for USHCC National Convention and inaugural Cosmopolitan Conference

WASHINGTON, June 23, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Foundation officially announced its partnership with Cosmopolitan Latina, the largest online-print magazine of its kind, with over 30 million subscribers every month. The announcement was made at the 2014 National Convention Kickoff Reception June 19th at the Grand America Hotel in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. Michelle Herrera Mulligan, the editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan for Latinas and recipient of the USHCC's 2013 'Women in Business and Leadership Award,' was a guest speaker during the Kickoff Reception.

"The USHCC is proud to see its Foundation partner with Cosmo Latina, the leading lifestyle publication for Hispanic women. This collaboration will attract more youth to the USHCC Foundation, allowing us to further scale our educational programs and philanthropic initiatives," said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez. "Conversely, this partnership will provide the magazine with our association's vast reservoir of Latina success stories, public engagement opportunities, and online resources to help inspire a national dialogue on the indispensable contributions of Hispanic women in America. We look forward to detailing the impact of this partnership at the USHCC 2014 National Convention and the inaugural Cosmopolitan Conference in December."

The collaboration will further publicize the USHCC Foundation's signature programs, and expand Cosmo Latina's narrative on the role women play in the world of business. The USHCC Foundation's 'At the Table: Women in Business and Leadership' is an initiative that works to provide Latinas – and all women entrepreneurs – the resources and training they need to compete, succeed, and exert a greater influence within their respective industries. Earlier this year,  the At the Table initiative launched a global entrepreneurship competition, attracting a competitive pool of business women to the program. Three winners will be announced at the USHCC's National Convention in September.

"Latinas in the United States must be empowered by that fact they can succeed in all avenues of leadership, including elected office, entrepreneurship, and corporate America. Too many times our stories of triumph have been overshadowed, but it is time to celebrate our victories. Cosmopolitan for Latinas and the USHCC Foundation are proud to announce our partnership to elevate the achievements of Latina entrepreneurs. The coverage of the winners will recognize professional women in the United States and globally as a vital commodity in our country's economic future," said USHCC Foundation Chairman Nina Vaca.

For more than a decade, Ms. Herrera Mulligan has used her platform as an award-winning journalist and author to give a voice to the most important social issues of our time, including cultural integration, personal development, and what it means to be a Latina in America.

"Cosmo and Cosmo For Latinas are on a mission: to help young women feel fierce and supported on their journey to becoming their best selves. I can't think of a better partner in that goal than the USHCC – an organization that channels the collective brainpower of a $468 billion Hispanic business enterprise, comprised of Hispanic entrepreneurs and business owners," said Cosmo For Latinas editor-in-chief, Michelle Herrera Mulligan. "The combination of the USHCC's business might and Cosmo/Cosmo For Latinas massive platform is the perfect ground to start a revolution for Latino achievement. We look forward to collaborating at our Fun, Fearless Life conference this December in Miami."

Cosmopolitan will be having their Fun Fearless Life Weekend in Miami December 6 – 7, 2014. USHCC members will receive a 10 percent discount towards conference fees. To learn more, visit www.ushccfoundation.org and www.funfearlesslife.com.
