The Most Memorable GM Vehicles From the Transformers Movie Series

GMPartsOnline Shares Little Known Facts About GM Vehicles Featured in the Transformers Movie Series

DENVER, CO--(Marketwired - Jun 24, 2014) - With the fourth installment of the Transformers movie series premiering on June 27th, 2014, GMPartsOnline.net has assembled a list of the most memorable GM AUTOBOTs® from the Transformers movies. The list includes little-known facts and movie trivia about the vehicles seen in the Transformers feature films.

"When I think of the Chevy Camaro or GMC Topkick, I always think of the Transformers movies," says Jason Lancaster, president of Spork Marketing, the company that created the graphic on behalf of GMPartsOnline.net. "The vehicles get a lot of screen time, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who finds these vehicles so memorable," says Lancaster.

Some of the vehicles in the films were heavily modified to effectively portray their AUTOBOT® counterparts. The most notable example is the 2007 GMC Topkick used as the alternate form for the AUTOBOT® Ironhide. While the Topkick is a rugged vehicle on its own, the vehicles used in the film were customized for an even tougher look. Each GMC was mounted with 40-inch tires, chrome smokestacks, and custom steel front and rear bumpers -- pushing each vehicle's curb weight over 10,000 pounds.

Chevy's Volt - which debuted in the second Transformers film -- was written into the script at the last minute as the character "Jolt." Jolt, originally introduced in the Transformers comics as a sword-wielding Decepticon®, becomes a bright blue Chevy Volt whose main weapons are electrically-charged whips.
