Honka steps up massive wood house production capacity
The world’s most modern massive wood house mill opens in Karstula in central Finland

Honka, the world’s most sold massive wood house brand, has launched log production at the new mill in Karstula, Finland. The company’s major investment, the new laminated log production line, increases Honka’s annual massive wood house production to 1,500 houses. 83,000 massive wood buildings have been sold under the Honka® trademark to more than 50 countries since 1958. The new production line was inaugurated by MP Sinuhe Wallinheimo.

One of the biggest mill investments in the house package industry in recent years was motivated by Honka’s decision last year to focus massive wood house production at Karstula, where the company began log house production in the 1970s.

Together with the municipality of Karstula, we have invested EUR 10 million to automatise production and quality inspection. This investment ensures that Honka houses are produced with the high quality associated with the brand,” says President and CEO Mikko Kilpeläinen.

Strong modernisation of production is Honka’s answer to the growing demand for massive wood houses.

Honka has made great investments in the markets of new export countries, such as China. In Finland, the ready to move in Honka Terve Talo certified by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland has just been launched. Developed together with the Allergy and Asthma Federation, the materials used in Honka Terve TaloTM meet the needs of families suffering from allergies and those valuing ecological and sustainable consumption,” says Mikko Kilpeläinen about why the investment was made.

Honka’s praised architectural looks are made possible by Honka’s unique non-settling laminated log. Honka is the only manufacturer of non-settling laminated logs in the world.
