Collectors Universe to be Added to Russell 2000 Index

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., June 26, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Collectors Universe, Inc. (Nasdaq:CLCT), a leading provider of value-added authentication and grading services to dealers and collectors of high-value collectibles, today announced that, according to the preliminary list of additions published by Russell Investments, the Company will be added to the Russell 2000® Index, when Russell Investments reconstitutes its comprehensive set of U.S. and global equity indexes on June 27, 2014. Collectors Universe will also be added to the Russell 3000® and Russell Global indexes.

The Russell indexes are widely used by investment managers and institutional investors for index funds and as benchmarks for passive and active investment strategies. The Russell 3000 captures the 3,000 largest U.S. stocks as of the end of May of each year, ranking them by total market capitalization. The largest 1,000 companies in this ranking make up the Russell 1000 and the next largest 2,000 companies comprise the Russell 2000. The Russell 3000 also serves as the U.S. component to the Russell Global Index. Each year the Russell 2000 is reconstituted to provide a comprehensive and unbiased small-cap barometer and to ensure that larger stocks do not distort the performance and characteristics of the true small-cap opportunity set.
