Xirrus Positioned in the "Visionaries" Quadrant of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Wired and Wireless LAN Access Infrastructure

Evaluation Based on Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute

THOUSAND OAKS, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 30, 2014) - Xirrus, the leading provider of high-performance wireless networks, today announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the "Visionaries" quadrant of the "Magic Quadrant for Wired and Wireless LAN Access Infrastructure" report.1 The report evaluated 14 vendors on their vision and ability to execute.

Xirrus' movement to the "Visionaries" quadrant demonstrates its progress since it was recognized as a "Challenger" in the 2013 Magic Quadrant. Gartner defines "Visionaries" as companies that "demonstrate an ability to increase features in its offering to provide a unique and differentiated approach to the market." Companies placed in this quadrant have introduced innovations in at least one of the following areas within the enterprise: convergence, security, management or operational efficiency.

"As one of only three vendors in the Magic Quadrant with a focus on Wi-Fi, Xirrus' placement in the 'Visionaries' quadrant validates the strength of our leading-edge Access Points and Arrays," said Shane Buckley, CEO at Xirrus. "Our continued presence in this important benchmark of converged wired and wireless LAN infrastructure demonstrates our ongoing growth in delivering high-quality services to customers across a broad range of sectors, including enterprise, education, healthcare, and hospitality."

Among the trends in the wired and wireless LAN access layer space, Gartner recognized the need for vendors to "provide connectivity solutions for not only 802.11n, but also 802.11ac Wave 1, as well as a migration path and road map for 802.11ac Wave 2."

"As technology standards change quickly, we enable organizations to protect their investment in wireless networks by offering upgradeable solutions that will carry them from 802.11n to 802.11ac Wave 1 and Wave 2 over the coming years. And we are shipping such solutions today," said Buckley. "As more mobile devices support 802.11ac, an adaptable, upgradable approach to adopting these new standards will provide the flexibility and speeds that organizations are seeking."
