First Tennessee Foundation's 150 Days of Giving Tallies 1 Million Votes

MEMPHIS, Tenn., June 30, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- More than a million online votes have been cast in the First Tennessee Foundation's 150 Days of Giving campaign, with almost two months still to go. To celebrate First Tennessee Bank's 150th anniversary, the First Tennessee Foundation is giving $5,000 to a different nonprofit each day for 150 days. Winners are determined by online voting that is open to the public. First Tennessee Bank is a subsidiary of First Horizon National Corp. (NYSE:FHN).

"Giving back to the communities that have made us successful has been part of how we define ourselves since our company was founded," said Bryan Jordan, First Horizon chairman and CEO. "Even during the yellow fever epidemic in Memphis in the late 1870s we had one brave employee, Charles Q. Harris, who single-handedly kept First Tennessee operating so we could deliver relief funds that were pouring in from around the country. Our communities have supported us for 150 years, and we will continue to invest in them."

The campaign began on March 25, the bank's anniversary, and will end on Aug. 21. The First Tennessee Foundation will award grants totaling $750,000 through the 150 Days of Giving, and that's in addition to the millions the foundation grants each year to improve the communities where First Tennessee does business.

Eligible for votes are nonprofit organizations that received direct funding from the First Tennessee Foundation or a matching gift for an employee of First Tennessee Bank or FTN Financial since 2008. Anyone can visit www.150DaysOfGiving.com to vote for up to 10 nonprofit organizations a day from multiple electronic devices. Technology for the 150 Days of Giving was provided by Rake Digital Media of Nashville, Tenn. Votes are cumulative until an organization wins or the campaign ends. A winner is announced daily on the site. Once the 150 Days of Giving ends, the First Tennessee Foundation will bring the nonprofit winners together to receive their $5,000 checks at events in the bank's major markets.
