MLB Joins MDA and Other Leading ALS Groups to Ring The NASDAQ Stock Market Closing Bell

Organizations Pay Tribute to Lou Gerhrig on the 75th Anniversary of "Luckiest Man" Speech This Fourth of July Weekend

What:

Major League Baseball (MLB) along with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and several other top ALS groups, including the ALS Association, ALS TDI (ALS Therapy Development Institute) and Project A.L.S. will visit the NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square on Thursday, July 3 to officially launch the effort by Major League Baseball and its 30 Clubs to raise awareness and research funds for ALS. Commemorative activities are taking place at MLB ballparks on Friday, July 4th in honor of the 75th anniversary of Baseball Hall of Famer and former Yankees Captain Lou Gehrig's iconic "Luckiest Man" speech, which would mark the end of his illustrious career. MLB has donated $300,000 to the four leading ALS organizations, and will be encouraging fans to donate via messages in ballparks, online at MLBCommunity.org and on MLB Network.

Tom Brasuell, MLB VP of Community Affairs, will ring the Closing Bell on behalf of all the organizations that have come together in the fight against ALS, the deadly disease that is better known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
