USHCC Foundation to Receive Proclamation from Florida Delegation for Empowering Small Businesses

WASHINGTON, July 8, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Foundation will receive a proclamation from the state of Florida declaring July 8th as "USHCC Foundation Day in Miami." The proclamation will be issued at the USHCC Foundation's "Celebrating America's Business Future" networking reception on July 8th, 2014 at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay. Mayor Carlos Giménez, members of the Florida state delegation, and business icons such as BVKmeka's Herman Echevarría and Mastec's Jose Mas will be in attendance.

"We are proud to bring the USHCC Foundation's signature program – the Chamber Training Institute – to Miami, home to a quarter million Hispanic businesses and a major epicenter of American enterprise," said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez. "Through our $2 million strategic partnership with Wells Fargo, our association continues to make critical investments in over 200 local chambers and their communities. These initiatives are born out of the idea that transforming a local business is the first step to transforming a community, a city, and our nation as a whole. We look forward to celebrating America's vibrant business future with Mayor Giménez, the Florida delegation, and Jose Mas in the 'Magic City' this week."

Fully funded by Wells Fargo, the Chamber Training Institute offers chamber leaders a free, two-day, world-class learning experience that covers a wide range of topics including board governance, business consulting, advocacy, branding and media development. Participants receive a certificate of completion from the University of Notre Dame.

"We value our partnership with the USHCC and see the association as an extension of our work at the national level," said Florida State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (FSHCC) President and CEO Julio Fuentes. "The USHCC continues to represent the interests of our membership and makes sure that we continue to advocate for our business community."

To further address the needs of local chambers, the USHCC Foundation officially appointed Nina Vaca as its Chairman last month. Vaca is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades including: the E &Y Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the NMSDC National Supplier of the Year, and Goldman Sach's 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs. Throughout her years as CEO & Founder of Pinnacle Technical Resources and Chairman of the USHCC, Vaca has proven herself to be a consummate businesswoman and thought leader in the world of philanthropy, commerce, and mentorship.

"Florida's pro-business policies continue to help spur the growth of Hispanic-owned firms, which is why the USHCC Foundation is thrilled to bring Wells Fargo and our joint initiatives to Miami-Dade County," said USHCC Foundation Chairman Nina Vaca.
