USHCC Congratulates Julian Castro on Confirmation as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development

WASHINGTON, July 9, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The following is a statement by the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Javier Palomarez:

"Today's vote in the Senate to confirm San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro as the next Secretary of Housing and Urban Development is a clear indication that he was the best candidate for this post. Throughout his confirmation process, Mr. Castro has put forth fresh, common sense ideas for improving the Department's operations and initiatives that also reflect the changing face of our nation's general market and business demographics.

During today's vote, the USHCC was particularly enthused about the bipartisan support that Mr. Castro received, and we thank our Republican friends in the Senate who voted favorably.

We congratulate Secretary Castro and look forward to working with him and his new team to improve our nation's economy by creating a stronger housing market, protecting consumers, and sustaining communities across America through quality affordable homes."
