COLUMBUS, OHIO, July 10, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The world's number one Philly Cheese Steak brand announces its newest Charleys Philly Steaks restaurant prototype opened July 9, 2014.

The company's corporate-owned restaurant located at 6496 Sawmill Rd in Columbus, Ohio will transition to the concept's newest prototype. With a foundation in mall food courts, the brand has elevated the Philly Cheese Steak experience for its consumers by revolutionizing the many ways a Philly Cheese Steak can be eaten.

Charleys has been known for fresh-grilled-to-order 100% USDA Choice steak and all white-meat chicken breast Philly Cheese Steaks for almost 30 years. Customers will be able to fully customize their Philly Cheese Steak—including how a Philly Cheese Steak is eaten. Enjoyed as a sandwich, in a Philly Burrito, or as a Philly Bowl, customers can build their Philly with a variety of meats and 25 grilled-in or fresh toppings and sauce choices.

The all-new customer experience is elevated at the sauce bar, where nine distinct flavors from mild and familiar to bold and unique can be mixed or added alone. Sauce flavors include Ranch, Ancho Chipotle, Roasted Red Pepper, Smokey Honey Mustard, Buffalo Sauce, Teriyaki, Cajun, Habanero Chipotle BBQ, and Charleys Steak Sauce.

Customers who are loyal to the Charleys brand can continue to get the same familiar sandwiches they so often crave. However, the brand is hoping customers try the new Philly Burrito, which holds Charleys original French Fries inside of a flour tortilla and is filled with the meats, cheese and toppings of the customer's choice.

The Philly Bowl, starting with a base of fresh lettuce, can create a hearty meal full of meats and toppings, or be lighter fare depending on the customer's hunger level. A broad variety of vegetable options, including zucchini and a zingy Sriracha slaw, make the traditional Philly concept also vegetarian-friendly.

As this is the first prototype of the new Charleys, the brand is hopeful to transition two additional Columbus-area locations to the new concept in the next few months.

The restaurant will be giving out free food at the Sawmill Road location to celebrate the grand opening on July 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
