USHCC to Host Fifth Annual ERG Summit & Corporate Challenge at 2014 Convention

WASHINGTON, July 10, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) has announced that it will host its Fifth Annual Employee Resource Group (ERG) Summit and Corporate Challenge on Monday, September 22, 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Held in conjunction with the USHCC 2014 National Convention, the Summit is the largest gathering of Hispanic ERGs in the nation.

The ERG Summit and Corporate Challenge brings together ERGs to share best practices and provide compelling results on the value of Hispanic executives and employees in corporate America, making it a key component of the USHCC's National Convention. ERGs serve as a critical asset to corporate efforts that increase diversity, develop talent, expand their consumer segments, and recruit the best and brightest employees.

"The USHCC's annual ERG Summit & Corporate Challenge has been a resounding success since the first installment five years ago in Dallas," said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez. "Since then, the event has grown in attendance, reach, and impact. The ERG Summit is now ingrained as one of the National Convention's most important events, and we look forward to showcasing the amazing work of ERGs from across the country this year in Salt Lake City."

Over 100 corporations have actively competed in the previous four years of the Corporate Challenge, including JPMorgan Chase, AT &T, Ford Motor Company, Aetna, Johnson & Johnson, Bank of America, Verizon, and ExxonMobil. These companies' ERGs compete based on their impact on the career advancement of Hispanic professionals, alignment of ERG initiatives and corporate objectives, community involvement, and cultural advancement within their firms.

Serving as Chair of the 2014 Summit and Corporate Challenge will be Cesar Melgoza, Founder and President of Geoscape, a leading data, analytics, and consulting firm based in Miami, FL. Mr. Melgoza is also a member of the USHCC's Board of Directors.

"The USHCC's ERG Summit & Corporate Challenge is an exciting opportunity to recognize prominent employee resource groups, while learning from industry leaders," stated Mr. Melgoza. "These Hispanic ERGs are making great strides within their respective corporate environments, and I look forward to sharing their successes as Chair of this year's event."

"During my tenure as Chairman of the USHCC, it has been very rewarding to watch the growth of the ERG Summit & Corporate Challenge," said USHCC Chairman Marc Rodriguez. "Most rewarding, however, is knowing there are hundreds of Hispanic ERGs throughout the nation that are working every day to develop employees and executives within corporate America. By doing so, they are ultimately improving the bottom lines of their organizations."
