(Nasdaq:UBIC) (TSE:2158), a leading provider of international litigation support and big-data analysis services, has opened the Behavior Informatics Laboratories to further support the development of its AI technologies, including Predictive Coding.
UBIC will contribute to the creation of a safer and more secure society by applying AI-based technologies developed in the new laboratory to its emerging businesses. These businesses include automated differential diagnosis in the medical field, insider trading prevention in the financial field, as well as intellectual property evaluation and business intelligence.
The Behavior Informatics Laboratories focuses on big data analysis and AI applications based on the new concept of behavior informatics. Behavior informatics is a new approach to information analysis conceived by UBIC that analyzes big data as a source of information on patterns of human behavior. More specifically, the new laboratory will be charged with conducting research on natural language processing and data mining, as well as developing software programs. The laboratory utilizes feedback from UBIC's clients that use UBIC's services to make continuous improvements to software programs.
The Behavior Informatics Laboratories will continue to accelerate UBIC's R&D cycle by leveraging an optimally balanced combination of basic and applied research.
Research subjects of the Behavior Informatics Laboratories
1. Natural language processing
The laboratory studies the structuring of unstructured data and the processing of texts from such angles as semantics, pragmatics and stylistics in accordance with the characteristics of language and the analysis objective.
2. Data mining
The laboratory looks into how best to select valuable information amongst structured data and how then to sort the selected data.
3. Performance optimization
The laboratory examines ways of achieving performance optimization by making use of techniques such as file structuring, algorithm improvement and parallel processing.
4. Knowledge base
The laboratory builds a knowledge base incorporating various kinds of attribute information.
5. Behavioral science modeling
The laboratory analyzes structures of data based on behavioral science and develops structural models.
6. User experience
The laboratory designs the experience gained by users when using application programs.
7. Software development
The laboratory develops engines for our Lit i View series and AI programs (e.g.,Virtual Data Scientist).
8. Cloud infrastructure
The laboratory supports the development of intelligence cloud infrastructures around the world.
