AUSTIN, Texas, July 16, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - Following national travel trends, bed and breakfast travelers plan to take more summer trips this year than last year, with more than 40 percent planning three or more leisure trips this summer, up from 33 percent last year, according to the annual BedandBreakfast.com Summer Travel Trends Survey*. Nearly one in four also plan to stay in luxury accommodations this summer, with nearly half willing to spend between $200-$300 a night.

BedandBreakfast.com's Diamond Collection, a group of more than 450 professionally inspected, luxury inns, invites travelers to choose their own luxury getaway this summer by entering its "Summer of Smart Luxury" sweepstakes. Travelers can win a weekend getaway that includes a B&B, air/car travel, and other extras, valued at more than $1,000. BedandBreakfast.com's Diamond Collection exemplifies smart luxury, with average nightly rate of $239 for a Diamond Collection inn.

"We are not surprised by the growing interest in B&B travel, given that travelers appreciate the good price to quality value, free breakfast and parking, and the character and intimate experience you get from staying in a bed and breakfast," says Matt Laessig, general manager of BedandBreakfast.com. He noted that the summer survey found 75 percent of B&B travelers planning a summer getaway say they will stay in at least one B&B, up from 59 percent last year.

The BedandBreakfast.com Diamond Collection "Summer of Smart Luxury" sweepstakes runs between July 22 and August 17 on the BedandBreakfast.com Facebook page.
