Based out of Atlanta, Ga., Blackberry Smoke is a southern rock band that has performed headliner and supporting acts for Zac Brown Band, Eric Church, ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynard. The band is comprised of lead vocalists and guitarist Charlie Starr as well as Richard Turner, Brit Turner, Paul Jackson and Brandon Still. In addition, Richard and Brit Turner share a personal connection to the Air Force because their father served as a Colonel.

Quotes:

Attributed to Charlie Starr:
"These men and women make sure we have freedom. We hope that we can give them a little something to enjoy in return."

Attributed to Richard Turner:
"I spent the better part of my youth strolling the tarmac with my father. To me, he was just my dad, but to everyone else, he was 'Colonel Turner.' You could tell that meant something by all the frozen saluting going on! Airplanes all in a row, hoses wound into perfect coils, ropes and wheel chocks neatly arranged. As a child, I was terribly intimidated by all of this 'order' but came to realize it was necessary in preparation for tougher times that may lie ahead. 'Be prepared,' was a slogan I learned before Boy Scouts, and it fell from my father's lips often. I was never quite prepared to lose my father when that time came, despite all the 'be prepared' speeches, but when I look out at the tarmac from whatever airplane I meet be in, I think of him and smile through the tears. And I thank him for his service. And I thank our troops for theirs."

Attributed to Brit Turner:
"Playing USO shows for the troops is the least we can do to thank them for their service."
