AntennaWeb.org Allows Consumers to Seamlessly Purchase Off-Air Antennas

Newest Web Feature Enables One-Stop Shopping for Antennas From CEA-Certified Vendors

ARLINGTON, Va., July 18, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Broadcast Interactive Media (BIM) today announced an enhancement to its AntennaWeb.org site to connect consumers with antenna vendors certified by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®.

Co-sponsored by CEA, AntennaWeb.org uses CEA's color-coded labeling standard to classify outdoor antenna types, ensuring all antennas within a type will have similar reception qualities. The website also allows consumers to learn which channels are available at their location and the antenna types needed to receive those channels.

After using AntennaWeb.org to discover the available channels in their location, consumers can then view the recommended models from participating vendors for each antenna type. When shoppers choose a color-coded antenna type matching their viewing preferences, AntennaWeb.org takes the consumers to the product pages on vendors' websites. There, shoppers can purchase the selected antenna and peripheral products through vendors' existing online storefronts.

"These enhancements to AntennaWeb.org will make it easier than ever for consumers to find the right TV antenna online," said Dave Wilson, vice president, technology & standards at CEA. "Customers shopping for antennas will now be seamlessly connected with retailers offering the specific antennas that best fit individual consumer's needs."

"AntennaWeb.org receives hundreds of thousands of unique visitors each month," said Mick Rinehart, President, Products and Data Services at BIM, the host of AntennaWeb.org. "Many want to enjoy the free TV channels from local broadcasters. Links to their respective product pages is a timely way for participating vendors to 'close the deal' with visitors who are ready to buy."
