Superconductor Technologies Inc. to Present and Exhibit at the Applied Superconductivity Conference August 10th to 14th

- Over 1700 Participants Focused on Superconductivity Industry and Technology -

- World Leading Companies to Showcase New Products -

AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 4, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Superconductor Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq:SCON) ("STI"), a world leader in the development and production of high temperature superconducting (HTS) materials and associated technologies, will showcase its Conductus® wire at the Applied Superconductivity Conference (ASC) being held August 10th-15th in Charlotte, NC. STI will exhibit at booth 44 and Dr. Jeong Huh will deliver a technology and product development milestone update presentation titled "Low-Cost 2G HTS Coated Conductors Scale-Up at STI" on August 11th at 11:45 a.m. EDT.

"ASC is an outstanding venue to continue our collaboration with new and existing customers as they look to enhance their product performance utilizing Conductus wire," said Adam Shelton, STI's VP of Marketing and Product Line Management. "Superconductivity is a phenomenon where some materials exhibit no electrical resistance below certain cryogenic temperatures. For this reason, superconducting wire can carry more than one hundred times the current of an equivalent size of copper wire; no other technology comes close to this performance. As such, it will play a crucial role in the electric power industry's 'Race to Energy Efficiency,' which is the theme of ACS 2014. We look forward to meeting with company and academic leaders from around the world as the industry works to commercialize superconducting devices for many new exciting products."

ASC is a major international forum with over 1700 participants that meet to present and discuss the latest in the field of superconductivity. The meeting will attract a broad spectrum of participants in research, technology development, and industrial manufacturing of superconductors wire and devices along with end users for a wide variety of applications. Participants from U.S. and international universities, industry, national laboratories, and other government agencies will address recent progress in applications.
