Mitel Awarded Contract to Provide Business Communications Via National Joint Powers Alliance to 50,000 Member Agencies

Continues as Member of Select Group of NJPA-Approved Vendors Selling Into Government Agencies, Education Institutions, and Not-For-Profit Organizations Across U.S.

OTTAWA, Aug. 4, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mitel® (Nasdaq:MITL) (TSX:MNW), a global leader in business communications, has been awarded the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) contract for telecommunications, wireless, and related equipment and services. This is the second time Mitel has been awarded an NJPA contract. Under the contract, NJPA provides the pathway for its government, education and non-profit member agencies to purchase Mitel solutions through its competitive contract bidding process.

St. Cloud, Minnesota, for example, has leveraged the NJPA program to expedite the procurement process for a Mitel solution with partner Marco Inc. to support the city's communications and computer infrastructure. Now implemented, the solution supports 14 city facilities, including police, fire, public utilities, city hall and park shelters. Watch the following video for more details: http://bit.ly/1ohk6Pg

The agreement covers Mitel's portfolio of communications and collaboration products, contact center solutions and cloud services.

"This contract award with Mitel is a perfect fit," said Mike Hajek, Director of Contracts and Marketing at NJPA. "Mitel is known for its innovative and cost-effective products and services. These are key elements to what our members are looking for in a business communications solution. Mitel is a strong addition to our family of awarded vendor partners."

The NJPA is a public agency serving as a member-focused cooperative for nearly 50,000 member agencies throughout the United States. NJPA national contracts offer an easy, timesaving procurement process for all levels of government and education. Awarded contract suppliers, such as Mitel, have the advantage and benefits of contract selling and are in a favored position to be selected by NJPA members through contract purchasing decisions.

"The National Joint Powers Alliance greatly streamlines the procurement process for its government, education and non-profit agency members with easy access to the best solutions in the industry. Joining this elite group of contract suppliers validates the strength of our business communications portfolio and represents a tremendous opportunity for Mitel to work closely with the vast network of NJPA agency members," said Jeff Nolan, VP strategic channel development and vertical markets, Mitel.

Mitel underwent a stringent review by NJPA of its products, services and support capabilities before being awarded the contract for a second time. This NJPA awarded contract makes Mitel solutions readily available for use by NJPA member agencies; across the U.S. Members include state and local government administrations, federal government agencies, healthcare providers, food services suppliers, transportation networks and utilities as well as diverse affiliations of member tribal nations.
