The Ensign Group Acquires Angeles Home Health Care in Los Angeles, California

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 4, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Ensign Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:ENSG), the parent company of the Ensign™ Group of skilled nursing, rehabilitative care services, home health and hospice care, assisted living, and urgent care companies, announced today that it has acquired Angeles Home Health Care located in Los Angeles, California.

Established by founder and owner Rita Doll in 1980, Angeles Home Health Care has been a trusted home care resource to the Los Angeles healthcare community for over three decades. Ensign's unique, locally driven approach to home health will continue Angeles' tradition of excellence, as the agency strives to meet the burgeoning need for home health services in the Los Angeles area.

"Expanding our service offerings to include home health reflects our strategic commitment to establishing the full continuum of post-acute care in the communities we serve," said Christopher Christensen, Ensign's President and Chief Executive Officer. "Our partnership with Angeles," Christensen continued, "reflects our firm commitment to serving the post-acute care needs of Southern Californians, whether that care takes place in our facilities or their homes."

Angeles will be operated by Cornerstone Healthcare Inc., Ensign's home health and hospice operating company. "We are grateful that Rita has entrusted us with the Angeles legacy. For over thirty-four years, Angeles has hired and trained talented caregivers who have provided exceptional, patient-centered home health care in the Los Angeles area," said Daniel Walker, Cornerstone's President and Chief Executive Officer. "We are excited to build on that legacy, as we work hard to provide life-changing home health services to our patients and their families."

The purchase was made with cash, and brings Ensign's growing portfolio to eleven home health agencies and nine hospices, across nine states. Ensign expects the newly-acquired agency to be mildly accretive to earnings in 2014.

Mr. Christensen reaffirmed that Ensign is actively seeking additional opportunities to acquire both well-performing and struggling home health and hospice operations across the United States.
