Government of Canada supports Montreal's Italian Week


MONTRÉAL, QUÉBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 5, 2014) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced funding for the 21st edition of Montréal's Italian Week, which is taking place from August 8 to 17, 2014.

Funding of $8,300, provided by the Government of Canada under the Local Festivals component of the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program, will be used to offer a range of public events showcasing the vitality of the Italian-Canadian community in Montréal.

Quick Facts

  • The festival's 21st edition will highlight nearly 150 local artists and will include a variety of musical acts, comedy shows, outdoor operas, guided tours of Little Italy, demonstrations by craftspeople, and an art exhibition.
  • Events for the whole family will take place at various locations familiar to the Italian-Canadian community. The festival relies on the support of around 60 volunteers.
