Celebrating Montreal's Italian-Canadian Community

MONTRÉAL, QUÉBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 5, 2014) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced funding for the 21^st edition of Montréal's Italian Week, which is taking place from August 8 to 17, 2014.

Funding of $8,300, provided by the Government of Canada under the Local Festivals component of the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program, will be used to offer a range of public events showcasing the vitality of the Italian-Canadian community in Montréal.

Quick Facts

• The festival's 21^st edition will highlight nearly 150 local artists and will include a variety of musical acts, comedy shows, outdoor operas, guided tours of Little Italy, demonstrations by craftspeople, and an art exhibition.
• Events for the whole family will take place at various locations familiar to the Italian-Canadian community. The festival relies on the support of around 60 volunteers.
