USHCC Names Eligio Cedeno "Businessman of the Year"

WASHINGTON, Aug. 8, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) announced today that Eligio Cedeño, majority owner and CEO of V-me Media Inc., will be the recipient of the 2014 Businessman of the Year Award at the USHCC National Convention on September 23 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Each year, the USHCC recognizes an executive whose outstanding leadership, pioneering spirit, social, and economic contributions exemplify the best of America's business community.

"During his tenure at V-Me, Eligio has devoted his time, resources, and passion toward educating and inspiring young children and families with quality television programming. Driven by his personal journey, Eligio recognizes the cultural challenges faced by many, and has leveraged the power of media to help break down barriers for America's Spanish speaking viewers," said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez. "We commend Eligio for offering his talents in service to the Hispanic community and our nation as a whole, and are proud to recognize him as the 2014 Businessman of the Year."

V-me Media is a Spanish language broadcast television network dedicated to entertaining, educating, and inspiring families through Spanish programming. It is among the largest Hispanic-owned networks in the United States, reaching over 70 million U.S. households each year. As CEO, Eligio has worked to strengthen and expand V-me in order to ensure that the future generations of U.S. Hispanics have access to quality educational and family programming.

"I am honored by this recognition from the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, particularly since it has only been four years since I had the honor of calling the United States of America my new home country," said Eligio Cedeño. "Through my involvement with V-Me TV, I look forward to continuing to contribute to the United States by providing quality Spanish language programming that inspires and properly reflects all of us in the U.S. Hispanic Community."

"The Businessman of the Year honors an individual whose achievements capture the commercial and cultural contributions of Hispanic entrepreneurs in America," said USHCC Chairman Marc Rodriguez. "We look forward to celebrating Eligio's ongoing success during our National Convention, and pursuing a long term partnership with V-Me."
