Brentwood Chiropractic Clinic Adds Massage Therapist

BRENTWOOD, Tenn., Aug. 10, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A Brentwood chiropractic clinic has announced the addition of a new member to its holistic healing practice. According to Dr. Quinn W. Uzelman, DC of Premier Family Chiropractic, Amanda Budde has been engaged to serve as the clinic's massage therapist, providing a number of techniques aimed at relieving pain, improving physical function, and supporting overall wellness.

Premier Family Chiropractic is excited to announce the addition of massage therapist Amanda Budde. "Amanda's work in massage therapy is a natural complement to the chiropractic adjustment and other natural healing modalities we provide here at Premier Family Chiropractic. I am very excited to be able to share her healing skills and experience with our patients," said Dr. Quinn W. Uzelman, DC.

Budde's specialties include deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, and myofascial release. As explained by Dr. Uzelman, all three disciplines involve firmer pressure and stimulation of deeper dermal tissues than the well-known Swedish massage. The chiropractor describes deep tissue massage as a method for treating chronic tension deep within muscle groups and connective tissues. He says this type of massage helps the body rid itself of built-up stress hormones, lowering blood pressure and heart rate while stimulating endorphins -- natural substances that produce a feeling of wellbeing.

Trigger point therapy, the chiropractor says, specifically targets areas of constriction that refer pain signals to other parts of the body. Dr. Uzelman adds that myofascial release is related to trigger point therapy, but focuses on tightness or other disorders afflicting the fascia, a membrane that surrounds the muscles and may restrict their motion.

Dr. Uzelman notes that massage therapy and chiropractic care work synergistically to help patients with a variety of health problems. "Tight muscles can affect the posture, and poor posture can cause spinal misalignments. The reverse is also true -- spinal alignments can lead to muscle strain," he explained. The chiropractor frequently prescribes massage therapy for patients who need to rehabilitate injuries, regain lost range of motion, or cope with chronic pain conditions.

Budde's therapy hours currently extend from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm on Monday and Wednesday, and from 12 pm to 6 pm on Tuesday and Thursday. The staggered schedule hours, says Dr. Uzelman, will enable her to provide both morning and afternoon sessions to patients. The chiropractor adds that massage therapy, like spinal adjustment, may produce dramatic results in a short amount of time or may involve multiple sessions, depending on the nature of the condition and the ultimate goal of treatment. "In cases of chronic pain, we may recommend periodic massages as a means of keeping pain under control for life without recourse to drugs," he said.

In addition to massage services, Premier Family Chiropractic also provides chiropractic evaluation and adjustment for the treatment of herniated discs, sciatica, sports injuries, chronic pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and other conditions.
