HENDERSON, Nev., Aug. 13, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SolarCity® (Nasdaq:SCTY) is expanding its Nevada presence with a new 18,000 square foot Henderson Operations Center. SolarCity will use the operations center as its regional hub to install solar for Nevada residents and businesses, starting this week. Henderson is SolarCity's first operations center in Nevada—joining two Las Vegas locations that house key administrative divisions for the company. This latest expansion pushes SolarCity's total Nevada staffing over 640 people.
SolarCity, the nation's largest solar power provider, makes it possible for many Las Vegas area homeowners to install solar panels for free and pay less for solar electricity than they pay for electricity from the local utility. SolarCity already employs 60 at the new facility, and has 70 open positions in Henderson and more than 100 open positions across the state in installation, electrical work, sales and customer account management. The expansion is due in large part to the leadership of Governor Sandoval and the Nevada Legislature to build the clean energy economy in Nevada. The passage of Assembly Bill 428 reformed the SolarGenerations program and provides the framework for the stable growth of jobs and energy choice for residents.
