Spartan ERV Expands Wildland Apparatus Portfolio

DALLAS, Aug. 15, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Spartan ERV (Emergency Response Vehicles) ("Spartan" or the "Company"), a business unit of Spartan Motors, Inc. (Nasdaq:SPAR), has expanded its Wildland product offerings with the introduction of a new Wildland MPT (Mini-Pumper Trooper) configuration. The new product offering will be showcased in the Spartan ERV booth (#4119) during the International Association of Fire Chiefs Fire-Rescue International show in Dallas, Texas August 15-16.

"With over 100 currently active Wildfires in the United States, this new configuration provides the firefighter an added sense of comfort with its ability to pump and roll with Spartan's one-touch Rapid CAFS (Compressed Air Foam Systems)," said Bill Doebler, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Spartan ERV. "With its chassis engine configured to drive all truck operations, space is freed up underneath the flatbed of the unit since an additional engine is not necessary to drive added truck functions."

The Company has developed the ability to operate all truck functions through the single chassis engine, instead of adding another power source that increases the overall weight and complexity of the apparatus. As a result, the Wildland MPT features a lower vehicle profile and overall lower center of gravity. This superior off-road handling is critical when the firefighter is attacking Wildfires.

Spartan ERV's newest Wildland product line extension enables the firefighter to experience easy operations from either inside or outside the cab. With customizable storage options, this new configuration ensures that the right tools are in the right place when needed. Compact in size, this new configuration enables flexible designs and the ability to pump and roll with Rapid CAFS while carrying 500 gallons of water.

The Wildland MPT allows the fire department to configure and package components and systems or functionality across a number of Wildland firefighting scenarios.

Capabilities:

  • Carry up to 500 gallons of water
  • Low center of gravity for superior off road handling
  • Pump and roll with Rapid CAFS
  • Flexible flatbed configurations
  • Small, lightweight package
