A digital library opens in Kista Galleria

On 23 August, Citycon and the City of Stockholm will open the new library in Kista Galleria. In addition to traditional books, the library also offers the latest digital technology, access to tablets and interactive services, a digital blackbox theatre, music and a café.

Soon the 2,500 square metre Kista library will open its doors to the public. The library is a joint venture between Citycon and the City of Stockholm, with the goal of being a modern tribute to knowledge and learning. By opening the library inside Kista Galleria—one of Stockholm’s largest shopping centres—the library will be made available to more of Stockholm’s residents. The library will have the same long opening hours as the rest of Kista Galleria, every day from 10 am to 9 pm, which is unique in itself.

– We are very happy to open the most modern library in Sweden in Kista Galleria. Kista is a symbol of diversity, knowledge and innovation, and Kista Galleria is a centre for those who live and work in the area. For us, it is important  that our shopping centres contribute to the community by offering, in addition to great shopping, also services such as libraries, fitness centres and health care, says Magnus Bergman, Commercial Director at Citycon, which owns and manages Kista Galleria.

The new library is part of Citycon’s long-term commitment to further developing the centre as the area’s most sought-after meeting and trading place. During the autumn, the centre and the number of cafés and restaurants on offer will be increased, and a new entrance will be opened to the growing residential areas to the north of Kista.

The opening celebration on 23 August

The opening celebration is held on Saturday 23 August and will offer, among other things, digital activities, debates, book improvisations, music and much more. Throughout the day, children can listen to stories in the children’s zone, and for the elderly there is a 3D printer workshop in the lecture hall. Moreover, visitors can listen to poetry in the entrance, or look at digital art in the exhibition room. Kista library is located next to the intersection Åhléns in  Modeboulevarden/Torggången.

The opening programme can be found at: www.kistagalleria.se and www.facebook.com/kistagalleria
