Navient joins annual radiothon to help raise money for Nemours/ Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children

NEWARK, Del., Aug. 27, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Navient will join other local employers in Delaware to raise funds in support of children in the care of Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. The fourth annual "Help Our Kids" radiothon, presented by the hospital and sponsored by Delmarva Broadcasting Company, will be held Wednesday, Sept. 3 and Thursday, Sept. 4.

Navient employees will join about 175 volunteers to staff donation lines during the two-day event, each day from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

"We are so grateful to have such strong support in the community. Navient has been a great partner in helping to make the 'Help Our Kids Radiothon' so successful each year," said Marie Hiddemen, associate director, Nemours Foundation.

In addition to encouraging employees to volunteer to support the campaign, Navient Foundation, the company-sponsored philanthropic fund, awarded a $5,000 grant to help underwrite the costs of the volunteer phone bank. The Navient Foundation has also committed to matching donor funding of up to an additional $2,500 for total company support of $7,500.

Six local radio stations will broadcast from the hospital: WDEL 1150 AM; WSTW 93.7 FM; Eagle 97.7 FM; WXCY 103.7 FM; Cool 101.3 FM; La Exitosa 930 AM. Their on-air personalities will interview patients and families, physicians, nurses, volunteers and others.

100 percent of all donations go to helping hospital patients. To make a contribution, call 855-636-6877 or donate online.
