Premiere at the FinnMETKO exhibition
THE PONSSE MODEL SERIES WILL BE FULLY UPGRADED

The upgrade of the PONSSE model series started by PONSSE Scorpion will be continued. Ponsse will present its new Model Series 2015 at FinnMETKO. The model series is a strong indication of the significance of customer cooperation in the product development of forest machines: the new solutions enable more powerful, reliable and ergonomic harvesting.

"The feedback we have received in recent years has been taken into account in the new model series. The most significant changes in the daily work of entrepreneurs and drivers can be seen in the ease of maintenance, and a high level of usability and durability," says Jarmo Vidgrén, Sales and Marketing Director of Ponsse.

The starting point for the development of the model series was the idea of a forest machine that does not compromise on the usability, productivity or maintainability of the machine. The new engine technology and the improved hydraulics have enabled the service intervals to be extended from 600/1,200 hours to 900/1,800 hours. These long service intervals increase efficient working hours and reduce operating costs. The machine frame structure is even more durable, and we have made modifications to crane models to improve durability and the ease of use.

The upgraded transmission in all machine models adds a new level of accuracy and efficiency to driving, resulting in better driving ability when crossing difficult obstacles or driving on steep slopes. Furthermore, the maximum tractive force of Buffalo, Elk and Wisent has increased. Important development steps in the new model series include the positioning of components and service points, as well as the ease of maintenance measures, features that our customers have specifically requested. At the same time, the design has undergone a complete facelift.

PONSSE ActiveFrame – true comfort in forwarders

PONSSE ActiveFrame is a new cabin suspension system for 8-wheelers. It has a simple and functional structure, suspending any sideways movement directed at the driver effectively and unnoticeably. As a result, driving is very comfortable and any stress on the body is much smaller than before. Productivity increases as the cabin suspension system helps the driver keep going even after a long shift. Comfort in driving allows the driver to use higher speeds, particularly when driving an empty load, and working with the crane is more efficient as the system keeps the cabin horizontal even in rough terrain.

The solution is technologically close to the Scorpion levelling system, in which separate sensors have been replaced by reliably components built in the control module. Thanks to the dual frame structure, the pivot point of the ActiveFrame suspension system is very low at the level of the bogie axle. This eliminates any swings directed at the driver as efficiently as possible.

ActiveFrame is available for PONSSE Buffalo forwarders.

More torque through eco-friendly engine technology

PONSSE machines of the new Model Series 2015 sold in Europe are powered by engines compliant with the EU Stage IV emission level. Mercedes-Benz/MTU engines produce low emissions thanks to the SCR exhaust gas after-treatment system and the CEGR cooled exhaust gas recirculation system. Benefits of the new technology include, along with a cleaner environment, a better response to sudden needs of power and lower fuel consumption.

The new engine technology improves the power and torque of all engine models, and offers a better response to loads. In particular, 4-cylinder models are now much more powerful – the engine power has increased to 150 kW and torque to 800 Nm (previously 129 kW and 675 Nm).

Less maintenance, more driving and comfort

In all machine models of the new model series, power and productivity are combined with excellent ergonomics and serviceability. Service points are easily accessible – and the most important ones have been lit. By choosing the best components available and developing hydraulic oil filtering, we have been able to significantly increase maintenance intervals. In the PONSSE Model Series 2015, scheduled maintenance intervals have been extended from 600/1,200 hours to 900/1,800 hours. This reduces operating costs and maintenance-related downtime.

The completely new cabin offers plenty of storage space, the most ergonomic controls available in the market and the excellent visibility which is characteristic of all Ponsse forest machines. The clear PONSSE Opti4G system quickly provides drivers with all the information they need about working and machine operations. Optimally located control handles, armrests with switches and clear control panels make working easy. PONSSE Opti7, the new forest machine PC with a touchscreen, is integrated inside the display unit.

The PONSSE Fleet Management system is now also available on mobile devices. With the system, machine entrepreneurs can at any time check the location of their forest machines on the map or the current situation of the stand. The Fleet Management service reports enable you to follow engine hours, the amount of fuel in the tank, the amount of wood harvested in the active stand, machine life productivity and fuel consumption for different drivers.

The Model Series 2015 will be unveiled at the FinnMETKO exhibition on Thursday 28 August at 10:30 a.m. Come and see what the future of forest machines looks like!
