Using WISeKey's WISeID App May Have Prevented Celeb Nude Pics from Being Hacked

GENEVA, Sept. 2, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- WISeID Personal Data Protector by WISeKey is a unique application that protects individual's personal data and personal identifiable information (PII) from hackers, and allows them to maintain control over who accesses their data.

This week alone, celebrities' nude pictures haven't been the only famous figures to have their phone hacked, foreign Minister Julie Bishop's mobile phone was also hacked. Hacking into cell phones or online accounts to access nude or personal photographs from celebrities is hardly new (remember when Paris Hilton's SideKick was hacked?), but what makes this incident potentially more disturbing is the rumors that this cache of images is associated with a broader attack on exiting clouds used to backup phone personal data.

How do I protect myself?

WISeID can protect against this threat as the main objective is to protect your Personal Information and its associated content, which can be used to identify, contact, locate or even trace a person. The personal data, which includes, videos and pictures, collected by WISeID, always stays under the user's control on their mobile phone or device. The PII is never communicated to third parties and never leaves the user's control. Users can generate strong passwords, store them securely, and logon directly to the real web-site; thus using WISeID could have prevented the celebrities page from being hacked as it provides users with a secure and easy to use encrypted place to store all their personal data, personal identifiable information, usernames, passwords, PINs, credit cards, loyalty cards, social security number, notes, photos, documents, and more. The easy-to-use interface also allows users to log on to websites quickly and securely from the application, securing all data with a strong 256-bit AES encryption algorithm key.

WISeID Personal Cloud provides trusted digital identities via mobile and desktop apps for individuals and corporations performing confidential transactions on open Internet. The WISeID Cloud app is a set of online tools to empower user by providing secure, authenticated, private digital identification and encrypted personal data storage in a Secure Vault on the Cloud. WISeID Personal Could version 5 launched at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona enables users to protect and sync their data and passwords across their personal mobile devices. WISeKey's partnership with Swisscom ensures that users' encrypted personal data is stored in Data Centers in Switzerland (Swisscom's Dynamic Storage solution). The initial storage in the WISeID Personal Cloud is free but users pay for incremental Personal Cloud storage usage.
