Informatica Announces PowerCenter and Cloud Connectors and Project Springbok for Tableau to Enable Self-Service Data Integration

Informatica Provides Business Analysts and IT Developers with an Easy Way to Access, Cleanse and Combine Data for Analysis in Tableau

Redwood City, Calif., Sept. 4, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Informatica Corporation (Nasdaq: INFA), the world's number one independent provider of data integration software, today announced its PowerCenter and Cloud connectors and Project Springbok for Tableau, which will enable business analysts to perform self-service data integration and make better and faster business decisions.

Informatica will showcase its PowerCenter and Cloud integrations with Tableau in booth #319 at the Tableau Conference 2014 (TC14), Sept. 8-12, at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle. Informatica is a Giga Sponsor of the conference.

Informatica also will showcase Project Springbok, a SaaS-based data blending application for performing ad-hoc data integration and preparation, at TC14. Project Springbok rapidly increases the speed to insight for non-technical data analysts by giving them the ability to make disparate data fit for analysis without requiring the aid of IT. To access and use Project Springbok, click here.

Today's announcement is another result of the strategic collaboration - which Informatica and Tableau announced on Sept. 9, 2013 - to address the growing need for self-service data harmonization and enterprise data integration in support of analytics.

People use Tableau to perform ad-hoc analytics, data discovery, dashboarding and reporting.

Informatica extends the power of these Tableau discoveries to also work for disparate, disjointed and unclean data sets. With Informatica's purpose-built self-service tools, Tableau and Informatica users now can deliver visual data insights five times faster than standard data integration solutions, which do not provide the ability to rapidly prototype and then convert those prototypes into production code.

"We are combining Tableau's ability to quickly analyze, visualize and share information with Infomatica's unique agile data integration process," said Todd Goldman, vice president and general manager of Enterprise Data Integration and Data Quality at Informatica. "This solution extends Tableau to work out-of-the-box with multiple data sources, including cloud applications and big data sources."

Dan Jewett, vice president of product management at Tableau Software, said, "When people can easily see and understand their data, they make better decisions. The Informatica-Tableau solutions will help people get to numerous types of data, in the format and quality needed, without needing to rely on their IT experts to prepare the data for them."

The collaboration between Informatica and Tableau will enable customers to:

·         Use the industry's leading data integration platform, PowerCenter, to move data directly into a Tableau Data Extract.

·         Unlock data in Cloud SaaS applications for analysis in Tableau via the Informatica Cloud product.

·         Use Project Springbok to rapidly increase their speed to insight by accessing, combining and enriching their data without having to rely on IT.

The Informatica PowerCenter connector for Tableau will be generally available at the end of September. Beta versions of the Cloud connector and Springbok connector for Tableau are available now, and both will be generally available Nov. 15.
