ALM's The National Law Journal and Law.com Publish Inaugural List of "America's Elite Trial Lawyers"

NEW YORK, Sept. 9, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Fifty of the nation's most successful plaintiffs law firms were recognized today in ALM's first-ever list of "America's Elite Trial Lawyers," which was published jointly by The National Law Journal and Law.com.

The list recognized U.S.-based law firms that have recently done the most exemplary and cutting-edge work on behalf of plaintiffs and who demonstrated an impressive track record of wins over the past few years.

During the last year, plaintiffs lawyers helped their clients win billions of dollars in awards — in fact, the 100 largest verdicts of 2013 yielded more than $10 billion in recoveries, according to the ALM report, a sum that is likely to be equaled or surpassed in 2014. Recognizing the impact of this work, The National Law Journal and Law.com teamed up to select law firms that are doing the most creative and substantial work on the plaintiffs side.

"To be eligible for this list, the firm needed to devote at least 50 percent of their litigation resources to plaintiffs work and needed to score at least one significant win for a plaintiff over the past 18 months," said David Brown, ALM's editor-in-chief. "We were especially focused on identifying firms who have prevailed in bench or jury trials – or in major settlements – in which the stakes were high, either in terms of the amount of money on the line or where the outcome had a major impact on other cases nationally."

Some of the firms recognized in the "America's Elite Trial Lawyers" list include:

  • The Lanier Law Firm, with offices in Houston, New York and Los Angeles;
  • Morgan and Morgan, with offices in 24 locations throughout the Southeast and in New York;
  • Baron & Budd, with offices in Dallas, Austin, Baton Rouge and Los Angeles;
  • Girardi Keese, with offices in Los Angeles and San Bernardino; and
  • Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, with offices in San Francisco, New York and Nashville.
