Avascent Promotes Jason Layman to Principal Within ICT and High Tech Services Practice

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - Sep 10, 2014) - Avascent, a strategy and management consultancy serving government-driven markets, has promoted Jason Layman to Principal.

Layman is a leader of Avascent's Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Technology Services advisory work. He consults on a wide range of issues faced by companies in this market, from expanding core market positions, evaluating and penetrating adjacencies to managing a healthy growth portfolio. Layman has expertise in structuring government and commercial technology transition, IR&D and Business Development investment alignment, and portfolio management for providers of integrated Back-office, Enterprise and Mission IT and Services solutions. His insight and guidance to clients is grounded in industry-leading knowledge of technology and customer dynamics.

"Jason brings a sophisticated understanding of how technology, business model innovations and market dynamics can fuse to create unparalleled opportunities for those agile enough to seize them," commented Steve Irwin, Avascent's president. "We're excited by the innovative work that Jason has done on behalf of our clients and look forward to new ways of delivering value in these fast moving markets," Irwin continued.

Since joining the firm in 2005, Layman has expanded Avascent's ICT focus areas from core defense mission Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence (C4I) capabilities to encompass enterprise government and near-adjacent industry requirements. He leads teams which provide full spectrum strategic advisory services, spanning business development, organizational design/optimization and bid-capture support. Layman actively advises senior executive teams in investment prioritization, including strategic buy-side acquisitions support, as part of focused portfolio growth opportunities.

Previously, Layman staffed for the CDU/CSU in the German Bundestag and at the U.S. Department of State. He holds an M.A. in German and European Studies, focusing on International Relations and Industry, from Georgetown University and a B.A., with honors, in Political Science from Davidson College. He is a Mentor for Fellows at the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress, as well as an active member of AFCEA International and ACT IAC.
