Sustainalytics Builds Governance Capacity and Strengthens Executive Team

Hires Head of Global Marketing and Strategic Initiatives with Deep Corporate Governance and Financial Services Experience

AMSTERDAM; TORONTO, Sept. 15, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sustainalytics, a leading provider of environmental, social and governance (ESG) research and analysis, announced today that the firm has hired corporate governance industry veteran, Cheryl Gustitus, to head its global marketing and to lead strategic initiatives. Ms. Gustitus has spent more than a decade of her career in the field of corporate governance and has deep experience in working with institutional investors worldwide.

Previously, Ms. Gustitus was Chief Marketing Officer at GMI Ratings where she raised the firm's global profile and launched several new risk identification products built on the foundation of ESG and forensic accounting data. Prior to that, Ms. Gustitus spent almost ten years leading global marketing and communications for Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS), a former division of MSCI and the world's leading proxy advisory firm. In addition to her experience in the governance and ESG space, Cheryl's deep understanding of institutional investor needs comes from 12 years in the mutual fund industry as a marketing executive for T. Rowe Price and Calvert Investments.

"We are thrilled to have Cheryl bring three decades of institutional level marketing experience to our executive team," said Michael Jantzi, CEO of Sustainalytics. "We compete on a global stage at the top end of our market. Cheryl's track record of driving growth and building market-leading brands that deliver best in class products to investors worldwide will serve our clients well."

Last month, Sustainalytics announced that it would be making a new and significant investment in strengthening the corporate governance pillar of its ESG research and ratings solutions. The firm lured Gary Hewitt away from MSCI to lead the development of an expanded suite of corporate governance research and data products designed to complement and integrate with Sustainalytics' existing market-leading ESG research solutions.

"The high quality of Sustainalytics' products and people runs deep," said Gustitus. "With the increasing integration of ESG factors into mainstream investment decision-making and Sustainalytics' commitment to expanding and enhancing its product suite, we are well positioned to deliver meaningful value to a growing number of investor clients worldwide."

Celebrating its five year anniversary operating as Sustainalytics, a firm built on the bedrock of more than 20 years of previous ESG experience around the globe, the firm works with more than 250 asset owners, asset managers and related organizations globally to identify, analyze and assess the potential for material portfolio risk related to companies' ESG practices.
