Dr. Chabotar retired from Guilford in June 2014 after a highly successful 12-year tenure that saw the development of two strategic plans, reaffirmation of accreditation with no recommendations for improvement, restoration of financial equilibrium, completion of the largest capital campaign in college history, and major improvements to buildings and grounds. Since 1983, he has been a faculty member at the Harvard Institutes for Higher Education, including the Harvard Seminar for New Presidents, where he has taught about 10,000 senior and middle level officials. He also taught the Seminar for New Board Members at the National Conference for Trusteeship for over a decade.

With Dr. Chabotar's addition to the Diversified team, the firm has expanded clientele search services to include optional strategic thinking workshops and coaching for new presidents. Among others, Dr. Chabotar has led cutting-edge workshops surveying the challenges and opportunities facing colleges and universities today, to the governing boards of Lehigh University, West Virginia University, and the University of Georgia System. Diversified is pleased to offer coaching or "onboarding" assistance for new presidents; boosting positive outcome for seamless transition to a presidency and campus, in assessing the senior administrative team, and in trustee and faculty governance, from a master in the field.

"We are very pleased to have someone with Kent's wide-ranging talent and experience join the firm to work with Boards of colleges and universities in finding their next presidents," according to Founder, Chairman and CEO Judith M. von Seldeneck. Dr. Chabotar looks forward "to partnering with the Diversified team to promote and expand the firm's significant capabilities in this important area."

From 1991 to 2002, Dr. Chabotar was Vice President for Finance and Administration and Treasurer at Bowdoin College, and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Government and Legal Studies. Previously, he was on the Faculty of Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Associate Professor of Management at the University of Massachusetts and Assistant Professor of Political Science and coordinator of Public Administration Programs at Michigan State University.  He received the Fussa Distinguished Teaching Award at Harvard and the Distinguished Educator Award for teaching excellence at Michigan State University.

"Kent will work closely with members of our practice to enhance Diversified's presidential search capabilities," according to Andrew C. Wheeler, Managing Director and Practice Leader, Education and Non-Profit Practice.

Dr. Chabotar has consulted with many private and public colleges and universities on issues such as strategic planning, financial decision-making, retrenchment and renewal, executive evaluation and search, and presidential coaching.  He is the author of many books, monographs and articles, and is a frequent speaker at conferences and events.  He earned his B.A. in Political Science, magna cum laude, from St. Francis University and his M.P.A. with distinction and his Ph.D. in Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship at Syracuse University.
