Hurco Technology Draws Newcomers at the International Manufacturing Technology Show


INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 23, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hurco Companies, Inc. (Nasdaq:HURC) reports that more than 70% of the visitors viewing the company's CNC technology in action at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago last week were first-time visitors. "The total visitor traffic to our booth and demonstrations, the number of new visitors, and the excitement surrounding Hurco's new technology/product introductions at IMTS exceeded our expectations," said Greg Volovic, President of Hurco.

There was considerable interest surrounding Hurco's 3D technology displays at IMTS. "We incorporated the ability to export a program from a Hurco control to a 3D printer, which enables utilization of Hurco's intuitive conversational programming to simplify prototype creation. At IMTS Hurco provided a preview of its next-generation technology related to the additive manufacturing space, in particular the United States patent application Hurco filed earlier this year," said Volovic.

Hurco also introduced its new MAX5 control at IMTS, while showcasing expansion of Hurco's 5-axis product range. According to Joe Braun, General Manager of Hurco North America, "Visitors at IMTS were the first to see Hurco's new VCX600i cantilever 5-axis machine, which is manufactured in Italy through our Italian subsidiary. The cantilever design expands the number of available 5-axis configurations. Hurco's leadership in 5-axis CNC technology garnered a great deal of attention at IMTS, and was featured on IMTS-TV, Sandvik Coromant's IMTS web broadcast called Technology Applied, and the IMTS conference series," said Braun.

"Hurco also partnered with EROWA AG to highlight enhancements made by Hurco to its automation functionality in response to customer needs," said Braun. "Due to one of many new WinMax features, Hurco CNC machines now may be programmed to run multiple jobs without operator intervention, which promotes lights out manufacturing."

While Hurco featured 10 Hurco CNC machines and multiple control features at IMTS, Hurco's VMX6030i drew particular interest, as it was specifically designed and engineered in the U.S.A. for the American market and its final assembly in Indiana. "Hurco expanded its Indianapolis manufacturing facilities to include final assembly of the VMX6030i and several other CNC machine models for the US market," said Volovic. "The VMX6030i is a machine specifically requested by U.S. mold shops which require more Y-travel in a smaller footprint," continued Volovic. "Hurco engineers designed the frame from the ground up, implementing both static and dynamic Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to ensure increased rigidity supporting increased travels," Volovic explained.
